The Public Authority is a new public agency created to work in conjunction with the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program. The Public Authority maintains a Registry of IHSS Homecare Providers who have been screened, completed an orientation and have passed a background check. These IHSS Providers offer personal assistance and domestic services to low-income elderly, blind or persons with a disability, so that they may live safely in their own homes. The Public Authority offers a wide range of training programs for both IHSS Recipients and Providers to help ensure that the best quality of services are provided. Training classes can be held in group settings in our offices or individual trainings in your home. The Public Authority’s goal is to assist our community’s elderly, blind and disabled to live at home with the respect, dignity and independence they deserve. The IHSS Public Authority: Recruits Independent Providers for our Registry. Maintains a Registry of available Providers for IHSS Recipients. Provides a list of available Providers for Recipients to interview. Helps IHSS Recipients conduct interviews to choose their Provider. Offer information and training to IHSS recipients on how to hire and supervise Providers. Provides training to Providers to increase their skills. Acts as the Employer of Record for collective bargaining.
