The Family Resource Center is a collaborative of local government and community agencies that provide health, education, social, cultural and community services to the families of San Benito County. The Family Resource Center offers a variety of services and workshops for families with children age 0-18. Services are designed to improve the lives of families and individuals. There are no cost or income requirements for any of the services. A few of the programs offered are: Information and Referral: Family Resource Center Staff can assist you in locating and connecting you to services within the community. Independent Living Skills: A variety of videos, workshops, and classes are available for teens that are age 16 or older needing to develop skills for the job market and eventual independence. The teens must have been in foster care to be eligible for these services. Great Beginnings: A home visitation program for families with children ages 0-5, which is designed to provide families with parental support and information about child development, age appropriate expectations, community resources and school readiness. Services are provided through home visits and center based activities such as "Play n Grow" and the "Nu-Parent" programs Adolescent Family Life Program: The Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) serves pregnant and parenting adolescent. It is designed to improve their health, social, and economic well-being and enhance their education. AFLP provides case management services to eligible pregnant and parenting teens. Based on a comprehensive assessment of need, AFLP case management services may include but not limited to: Building self esteem Prioritizing personal goals Assisting with staying in or returning to school Attaining a positive pregnancy outcome Developing effective parenting skills Obtaining social and economic independence Locating and utilizing appropriate community resources. Services are provided to eligible clients regardless of socio-economic status, race, ethnicity or physical, developmental, or mental disability.
